Cannot open old versions of Documents in SharePoint

When you try to open versionized Office documents in SharePoint (IE or Edge) you receive the error message that the requested document was not found. In my case it was due to the following security Setting.

After changing the “Do not save encrypted pages to disk” to disabled the versionized documents could be opened again.
